Advanced Roofing Earns Top Low Slope Roofing Award from the FRSA

Advanced Roofing Inc. earns two S.T.A.R. Awards from the Florida Roofing and Sheet Metal Contractors Association for its work in sustainability and low-slope roofing

Advanced Roofing Inc. (ARI) is happy to announce that it recently earned two S.T.A.R. Awards from the Florida Roofing and Sheet Metal Association (FRSA) at the 97th annual convention and expo in Orlando, Florida on June 18th, 2019. The FRSA S.T.A.R. (Spotlight Trophy for the Advancement of Roofing) is an awards program designed to recognize association members for their unique and outstanding projects completed in Florida.

ARI took home 1st place honors in the Low Slope roofing category for its outstanding quality at the Rapallo North Condominium in West Palm Beach, and 2nd place honors in the craftsmanship category for solutions at the Royal Caribbean Terminal at the Port of Miami.

Rapallo North Condominium Association in West Palm Beach selected Advanced Roofing in the fall of 2018 to re-roof their 16,438-square-feet roofing system which was spread over nine roof areas. This waterfront, 156-unit property built-in 1973 was going through a major concrete renovation project at the time and required restoration of its aging, leaking roofing system eroded by natural deterioration and hurricane damage. The project highlights ARI’s expertise in re-roofing occupied commercial buildings with little to no interruptions to operations, along with its experience as a certified Durapax Roofing System installer. The project was completed ahead of the deadline with minimal impact to residents.

ARI installed a high-end architectural metal finish roofing system on the new $247 million LEED-certified state-of-the-art Royal Caribbean terminal at the Port of Miami, also known as the “Crown of Miami” for its unique geometrical shape and 105-foot steep slope. To achieve a distinctive look for this newest gem to the Miami skyline, Advanced Roofing installed Standing Seam metal roof panels over CMU block wall as decorative siding, which was a challenge for the permitting process as no approved NOA exists for this use. Due to its height and location, the project faced additional challenges, including new construction on all four sides of the building; suspending the roll forming machine from the air with a crane to run 100-feet long metal panels; and tethering all materials so they wouldn’t fall off the side of the building due to the steep slope and frequent high winds. Safety is paramount on a project of this size, so the team installed over 900-feet of custom safety railings around the perimeter of the main roof and custom-fabricated base plates to install safety rails, resulting in a project completed on time, within budget and with zero safety incidents.
